Halloween is on the way and It’s pumpkin time! On Friday,
the three of us hopped into the car and headed towards Paragonah where there is
an adorable little pumpkin patch (Judd’s Pumpkin Patch). I was so excited
because I didn’t get to go last year. (I begged Sam to go with me last
Halloween. He showed no interest. One day while I was at work, his mom came up
to visit and the two of them went! I was so mad that he went without me!)
Anyway, this year, I was determined to get there.
We pulled up just as the day was cooling off and the sun was
setting. We drove right up to the patch and found a spot where no one else was
looking. Emma had been kind of cranky on the drive due to short nap times during
the day but cheered up just as soon as we started to walk around. She seemed
fascinated by the giant orange and green gourds that scattered the ground. Sam
handed her one that he called “Emma sized” and she stuck it right into her
mouth. (That’s where everything goes these days.) She giggled and excitedly
kicked her legs as I held her and wandered through the scattered pumpkins in
search of the perfect one to carve. Emma continued to cling to her tiny orange
pumpkin with her chubby little hands, grinning from ear to ear as we made our
selections. She was for sure the cutest pumpkin in the patch. We ended up with
several of different sizes and colors. I especially like the mint green
Cinderella pumpkin. I even picked out a couple to take home and puree for Emma
to try.

The next day, Emma had pumpkin puree with cinnamon in her
rice cereal and LOVED it. I used some of the puree to make pumpkin waffles with
homemade whipped cream. YUM.
Such a fun weekend. Happy Halloween everyone!

ReplyDeletehaha! I'm telling you, even in the dead of winter I have to beg him to wear anything other than basketball shorts! He's all about comfort. I forced him into those. #thestruggleisreal
